Last night I visited Madison Square Eats, the rocking twice-annual prepared-food market set up in the shadow of the Flatiron building. The crowds rival Smorgasburg in density and you may have to battle a few seasoned Manhattanites for seating, but it’s well worth it. Under the Mariemekko-style pink flower umbrellas I sampled doughy teriyaki balls from Mimi and Coco, a Korean BBQ Burger from Asia Dog (they also hollow out watermelons for a drink that looked divine), a soft and succulent lobster roll from Red Hook Lobster Pound, short rib grilled cheese bites from Mason Jar NY, pizza from Roberta’s, and for dessert, cake balls from Momofuku Milk Bar (which I raved about to my obliging companions for the next 15 minutes). Everything was delicious, but be aware that portions are small and the food can be pretty pricey. Mimi and Coco had the best deal – six teriyaki balls for 6$, and two free ones if you Like them on Facebook!
For the record, I shared all this food with two other people. Just so you know.
Madison Square Eats is open until May 31st.
